Rhoda

Acts 12:13-14 “Peter knocked at the outer entrance and a servant girl named Rhoda came to answer the door.  When she recognized Peter’s voice, she was so overjoyed she ran back without opening it and exclaimed, “Peter is at the door!”

Peter had just been freed from the Roman jail by God’s power.  The other believers were behind locked doors, afraid for their own lives.  They had been praying for Peter’s release.  Rhoda was so surprised the pray was answered, she forgot to open the door to let Peter in the house.  When she told the others, who were also praying for Peter’s release, they didn’t believe her.

How often do we allow our minds to keep the doors closed to God’s answers to our prayers.  We pray with expectations of what the answers should be and, because of that, we miss God’s answers.  God sees the entire picture and He knows the best answer for us and those around us.  We need to ask God to help us keep all the doors to our heart and mind open so we can recognize His answers.
