Ginrich's Devotional Blog

Jdg 4:4 –5 Deborah, a prophetess, the wife of Lappidoth, was leading Israel at that time.  She held court under the Palm of Deborah between Ramah and Bethel in the hill country of Ephraim, and the Israelites came to her to have their disputes decided.

As a female, when I read about Deborah, I don’t see how I can possibly complain about too much to do.  Not only was she a wife and probably a mother, she was the judge of all of Israel.  Just thin of having to hear disputes all-day and making the decision of whom was right.  Back then, the judge was the ruler of Israel.  This was before Israel had kings.  So Deborah had many duties.

Today, some men still have trouble with a female in charge or anything, let alone a church.  It’s amazing how ease it is for people to ignore history and claim other things must be.  We can learn a lot from history.  Reading the Old Testament of the Bible helps us understand and apply the New Testament.  Jesus said He didn’t come to end the laws of the Old Testament but to fulfill the laws.

Let’s be sure to study the entire Bible.  Even though it is made of individual books, they are all relational with each other and God speaks through every one of them
