Obedience Brings Joy

Jn 15:10-11  If you obey my commands,  you will remain in my love, just as I have obeyed my Father’s commands and remain in his love.  I have told you this so that my joy may be in you and that your joy may be complete.

Our joy is not complete unless we obey God’s commands.  We don’t remain in God the Father’s love unless we obey His commands.  I don’t know about anyone else but I do know I want to be full of joy and stay in God’s love.  How can I obey His commands if I don’t learn them and write them on my heart.  This is only possible after I receive Jesus as my Lord and Savior, accept the fullness of His Holy Spirit and spend time reading, studying and meditation on His written Word.  I also must spend time in contemplative prayer so I can hear His instructions and His corrections for my life.  Motivation is pretty high as I remind myself daily what Jesus said in these verses.  I know, in my own sinful nature, I cannot do this but with the help of His Holy Spirit, God can guide me into a life of holiness, which is a life of obedience, which is a life of joy and love.
