God’s Family

Gal 6:10 Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers.

Our church had their Christmas party last night. We celebrated with another church down the road as our guests. They are not the same denomination but we have been doing many things together. The members of both churches are learning to expand their concept of family. We all belong to the family of believers in Jesus Christ, God’s Son, born as a full man, lived to show how we are to live, crucified for our sins, and risen again to show us God’s gift of eternal life for His Family – us. We have a way to go in our “family” Though a few of us have dared to cross the “line” you can see one drawn down the middle of the fellowship hall; members of one church together on one side, the others on the other side. It is quite natural to want to be with those you know best and have the most in common, but, if you don’t mix, you’ll never know anyone else better or discover what you might have in common. The same is true when we combine worship services. At family reunions, I have watched immediate family members mingle and fellowship with more “distant” family members. This is what we need to do in God’s Family. Do not be afraid of other members of the family. Enjoy getting to know them better. After all, you will all be spending eternity together.
