In His Image

Ge 1:2-27 Then God said, “Let us make man in our image, in our likeness, and let them rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air, over the livestock, over all the earth, and over all the creatures that move along the ground.” So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them. Ge 2:7 the LORD God formed the man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living being.

Amazing. We are created by God in His Image. What kind of image is that? God is a Triune God: God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit. God the Father is the Creator, God the Son is the Word, the action of the creation, and was given a body of the created to help the creation see God. God the Holly Spirit is the breath of life of God. Where do we stand within this image? Man decided to draw apart from the image of God by withdrawing from the Holy Spirit, the breath of life. Since then, man had been struggled on his own. But, through accepting Jesus Christ and the grace of eternal life and being completed once again in the image of God with the infilling of His Holy Spirit, we can once again be in the image of God. We display God’s image in the amount and ways we allow His Holy Spirit to indwell in and through us. During this season of Lent, reflect on your relationship with the Holy Spirit, His part in and through you. Start paying attention to the “breath of life” God would fill you with daily that you may live, walk serve and have the fellowship God wants to have with us.
