All Is Not As It Seems

2Co 4:18 So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen.  For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.

We were taking a boat tour up the Erie Canal in New York.  As I looked ahead up the canal I saw a bridge in the distance.  It appeared to be very close to the water.  I didn’t think we were supposed to turn around on the tour so soon but I could see there was no way we could pass under such a low bridge.  I looked away for a while, enjoying the scenery.  When I looked back at the bridge, there was a little more clearance.  Later on when I looked at it again there was even more.  I decided to keep my eyes on the bridge and was surprised to see rising up but staying flat as it rose.  The guide told us it was one of the few remaining bridges that stayed horizontal as it rose.  So many times we look down the road of life and think there is no way we can pass through some circumstance.  But, if we keep our eyes focused on the bridge of the cross of Jesus we will find, as we get closer to the circumstance, the bridge rises for us to pass through.
