Reach Out

Gal 6:2 Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ

That is quite a command.  How do we go about carrying someone else’s burden?  Prayer is a good start.  We lift that person and their need up before the throne of grace of God.  Depending on the burden, there are things we can do in the here and now.  Through prayer we can receive guidance on how we can reach out to the one in need.  It may be just to be a willing, listening ear.  It may be a hug.  It may be a gift of money, a meal out, some physical labor help.  The list can go on and on, depending on the need.  The major thing is to pray, to ask God how we can be a vessel for Him to touch the one in need, to listen to His guidance through the Holy Spirit and to act on it.  What He guides us to do may seem trivial or inconsequential to us but overlooking even the smallest of things (in our finite estimation) can stifle the Holy Spirits work.  Let us learn to be obedient in the smallest of things that we may be obedient in the big things.  A phone company use to have a commercial saying, “Reach out and touch someone today.”  What a good thought.  Let us reach out and touch someone for Jesus today.
