Happy Birthday

Lk 1:80 And the child grew and became strong in spirit;

 Yes, this verse is a little out of context but tomorrow is our first-born’s birthday.  As I reflect it seems like it was only yesterday, not 44 years ago that I first held her in my arms.  I can still sense the feelings of love and awe as I looked down on our beautiful baby.  I can see and hear things she said and did throughout the years.  I have enjoyed watching her grow as a woman and grow in her faith.  I have watched and prayed as she struggled with bad times and rejoiced as she soared through easy times.  Though we love all our children equally, there is something different about the first one.  Everything is new.  Everything is a first.  I can sense the feelings I had throughout the years and hear and see the things all my children said and did and praise God for these blessings.  To you who are still with young children, remember to not only train them in the way they should go, but set the example for they will go as they see you go.  To our first born, I say, “Happy Birthday.  May you continue to grow ever closer to our Triune God.”  The proverb that says, “Blessed is the man (that includes women) whose quiver is full.” Is so right.  We are so blessed with our adult children and our growing grandchildren.  Thank You, God.
