Prepare Our Hearts

1Co 11:26 For whenever you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death until he comes.

We celebrate communion, or “The Lord’s Supper” every first Sunday of the month in addition to other times throughout the year.  We don’t always celebrate it in the same way.  Whether we go to the alter in groups, go to different stations as individuals or, as in some churches, sit in our seats, it is not how we orchestrate the act of communion but the condition of our hearts when we eat the bread and drink from the cup (or dip the bread or wafer into the cup).  This is not just a rite to participate in by rote or habit.  It is a special time with God, remembering the cost that gives us eternal life with Him.  Let us be sure to check our hearts (and minds) each time before we partake.  It is because of our sin He died and it is for us He will come again.
