The Spirit Intercedes

“We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groans that words cannot express” (Romans 8:26-30).

Yesterday we considered being silent and giving God a chance to tell us what to pray.  Sometimes, even in silence, we might find it hard to know what to pray.  In times like those, I just ask God to release His Holy Spirit to pray through me.  Sometimes I quote a verse or two from the Bible, sometimes I sing and sometimes I just go back into silence, listening for that still, calm voice that I have grown to know to be God speaking deep within me.  In the world, we like to think we have the answers.  In reality, we have no answers to anything.  God is the One with all the answers.  Practice listening.  Listening connects our prayers to God’s power.  When we pray according to God’s will, we can wait in confidence and faith, knowing God will respond to our prayer.
