Joy and Happiness

Ps 51:12 Restore to me the joy of your salvation  and grant me a willing spirit,  to sustain me.

My husband has a saying, “Joy is from inside, happiness is from things or events outside.”  So many people mix up “joy” and “happiness.”  Joy is from God.  Joy is found in our salvation given to us when we accept Jesus, Christ, God’s only Son as our Lord and Savior.  He died on the cross without sins and took on our sins so when God looks at us, He sees the blood of atonement of His Son.  That is real joy.  Because of this sacrifice, we have forgiveness of our sins and eternal life.  Through our walk in this life we experience different emotions: sadness, grief, fear, happiness, anger, serenity.  The list can go on.  But joy is only experienced through God.  Joy is our bedrock that sustains us through all our other emotions.  We can be full of joy even when walking through grief.  Do you have God’s joy in you?  If not, confess to him you are a sinner.  Ask Him to forgive your sins.  Ask Jesus to come into your heart, mind and life as not only your Savior but as the ruler of your life.  Then thank God for forgiving your sins and thank Jesus for coming into your heart and mind and life.  Joy may come instantly are it may come gradually.  Each one is different.  You will come into the joy of your salvation.
