God’s Goodness

Jas 1:17 Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows

When my children were little and we played games together we would let them win enough to encourage them and make them feel they did it themselves.  We did this to build up their confidence.  God does that with us.  He enables us to do all we do to build up our faith and trust in Him.  Unfortunately, many of us think we do those things on our own and we take all the credit.  We, in and of ourselves, have no ability to do good.  The “good” we do pales in comparison to the Good God does.  The Bible says our “goodness is like filthy rags.”  We need to have thankful hearts to God and remember to thank Him for all we are able to do.  It is only by His grace that we can take our next breath and our heart can beat the next beat.  During this Thanksgiving season, let us strive to develop the habit of thankfulness to God.v
