Prepare the Way

Isa 40:3 A voice of one calling: “In the desert prepare the way for the LORD make straight in the wilderness a highway for our God.

Sunday was he first day of Advent.  Advent is the season for the preparation of the coming of God the Son.  We spend much time preparing to celebrate the birth of Jesus, the first coming of God’s Son.  We do this through decorations, gift giving, food baskets, greeting cards and many other activities.  This is all well and good but we must also use this time to prepare for the second coming of God’s Son.  Scripture is full of caution.  We must more than believe Jesus is the Son of God.  Satan knows Jesus is the Son of God.  We must not only believe, we must follow in His example.  Revelations records the words “ you are neither hot or cold.  Because you are lukewarm I will spit you out of My mouth.”  These words keep me vigilantl  I must continually prepare myself to stay “Hot” for Jesus.  I must study His instruction manual (The Holy Bible) and know what to do and not do.  I must ask Him daily to “create in me a clean heart and renew a right spirit within me.”  As we enjoy the festive activities of this season, let’s be sure to prepare our hearts and minds for the second coming of the Lord.  Let us prepary the way for Him to rule in our hearts and minds and life.
