Lk 1:38 “I am the Lord’s servant,” Mary answered. “May it be to me as you have said.” Then the angel left her

Mary really amazes me.  She was only a teenager.  Parents arranged marriages and she was engaged to a man named Joseph, a carpenter in her town.  The engagement period was a time for the couple to get to know each other.  Several things amaze me about Mary.  The most amazing is her willingness to be used by God in any way He wants.  She is very aware of the danger to her.  In those days anyone becoming pregnant when not married was stoned to death.  She was not married.  The prospects didn’t look good since Joseph was not the father of her baby.  How could she possible convince Joseph this was a miraculous event from God?  Although it was foretold in the old scriptures, it really wasn’t believed that God’s Son would really come through a virgin of a lower, middle class family.  Yet, in spite of her knowledge of the danger, she simple said to the angel, “Let God use me as you have said.”

Where are we when it comes to our willingness for God to use us in any way He desires regardless of the possible problems it might present to us in our time and space?  This is a good question to meditate on today.
