Herod

Mt 2:16 When Herod realized that he had been outwitted by the Magi, he was furious, and he gave orders to kill all the boys in Bethlehem and its vicinity who were two years old and under, in accordance with the time he had learned from the Magi.

Herod.  I feel sorry for the man.  He elevated himself to the King of his country and then confused his identity, thinking he was equal to a god and expecting to be worshiped.  When we elevate ourselves we must continually look over our shoulder.  Herod was so afraid someone would try to put him down and take their place.  He was so afraid of this he was willing to have hundreds of babies killed on the chance one of them might grow up to dethrone him and Herod would no longer be king.

Human nature is such that we endeavor to make ourselves look better and be over others, sometimes at the cost of others.  When we humble ourselves before our God and before others, we allow God to lift us up.  It will matter not when man lifts us up or puts us down.  What counts is our standing before our God.  I pray you can stand before Him as His child through His Son, Jesus, who had the authority to adopt you into God’s family.  We are not born a child of God; we are born a child of creation.  Only through Jesus, by accepting Him as our Lord and Savior and asking God’s forgiveness of our sins through the shed blood of Jesus can we become children of God rather than children of a creation.  If this is not true of you today, stop right now and invite Jesus into your life as Lord and Savior.  Confess to God you are a sinner and ask Him to wash you with the sacrificial blood of His Son Jesus.  Then thank Him.  Welcome to God’s family
