First Step

:Mt 14:29. Then Peter got down out of the boat, walked on the water and came toward Jesus. Then Peter got down out of the boat, walked on the water and came toward Jesus

So often the emphasis on this portion of Scripture is Peter taking his eyes off of Jesus and looking at the circumstances and losing his faith and sinking.  That is a good lesson for us.  But, look at the faith Peter expressed when he first stepped out of the boat onto the water.  That is the hardest step to take – the first step.  There are many times in our lives Jesus calls to us to take our first step. He is always holding out His hand toward us for us to take it but we are most always at least one step away from the reach of His hand.  Like Peter, we must be trusting enough of Jesus to reach out and take the first step.  After we do that, it is important for us to keep our eyes on Him, not on the circumstances.  Circumstances change with the changing of the wind.  Jesus never changes.  He is always here to guide and direct us.  What is it you are wrestling with?  Be bold like Peter and take that first step.  Jesus is waiting to help you on your way.
