Sabbath Day of Rest

Ecc 3:1 There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under heaven:

Someone commented on Face Book that they keep Saturday, the original Sabbath day, as their Sabbath.  The reason the modern Christian church celebrates on Sunday is because this is the day our Lord Jesus rose from the dead.  It is referred to as “the Lord’s day.  It really doesn’t matter what day we declare as our “Sabbath rest” as long as we have one day every week.  But so many have misunderstood “Sabbath rest”.  They see it as a day to sleep in late, go shopping, do errands, and partake in recreation – anything besides their normal 5 or 6 days a week job.  Our rest is found in our relationship with God.  There is nothing wrong with the other activities or lack of activities as long as they are not done in place of our time of worship and praise with other children of God.  Our lives need to be balanced with work, rest, recreation and fellowship.  Fellowship not only with spouses and family and friends but fellowship with God and other believers.  With the economy and the job situation like it is today, balance is hard but well worth striving for.  With God all things are possible – even balance in our individual lives.
