The Lord’s Prayer 5

Mt 6:9 “This, then, is how you should pray: ‘Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name,

Mt 6:10 your kingdom come, your will be done

“Your will be done”.  We are telling God we want His will to be done.  How do we know what His will is?  The Holy Bible is full of instructions to Gold’s will.  Jesus said it is summed up in 2 commandments: love the Lord our God with all our heart, mind and strength and (2) love our neighbor as ourselves.  Sound easy?  Not so.  Because of our inherent sinful nature we want our will first and want to put our needs, wants and desires before all others.  Just watch a baby.  They think everything should revolve around them or they start crying.  We continue in that frame as we age, but we show it with words and actions other than crying tears.  How do we get from self- will to God’s will?  After we ask Jesus into our hearts and lives and are filled with God’s Holly Spirit we are given fruits of His Spirit (love, joy, peace, patience, kindness goodness, meekness and self-control).  These fruits grow just like fruit on a tree grows.  We must remained attached to the vine (Jesus) and be watered and fed (God’s written word).  As we realize how special we are to God (He sacrificed His Son for us) we will gradually grow to love ourselves.  As we realize God’s love is all-inclusive we will gradually trust God for our needs, desires and wants and learn to love and want the best for others.  We’ve prayed for His kingdom to come.  Open up to His kingdom of love and we will desire for His will to be done in us and around us.
