The Lord’s Prayer 6

Mt 6:9 “This, then, is how you should pray: ‘Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name,

Mt 6:10 your kingdom come, your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.

“Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.”  We read in the Bible there are no tears in heaven.  There is no discrimination of gender, age, ethnic or anything else.  In heave are the perfect fulfillments of the fruits of God’s Holy Spirit (see yesterday’s devotion).  When we say “on earth as it is in heaven,” we are asking for the exact same conditions on this earth.  We are on this earth and God’s will being fulfilled on this earth starts with us – starts with the “me’s” on this earth.  My job is to be willing for God’s will to take shape within me.  My job is not to see it takes shape within others, or to judge how they are doing in their walk.  I have my hands full with my own seeking to be willing for His perfect will to be done in my life.  I have kidded around telling people the reason God healed me from 2 terminal diseases in my life is because He has a lot more to do within me before He’s willing for me to be in His face for all eternity.  That’s probably partly true.  Even though the only requirement to spend eternity in the Presence of God is knowing His Son, Jesus as our Lord and Savior, if God didn’t want us to be on this earth as His voice, His, hands and feet, He could take us home the moment we accept His Son.  We are here as His vessel.  Just like a crystal goblet sparkles more if it is etched, we reflect God’s love more through the trials we walk.  Wanting God’s will done on earth (in and around us) as it is in heaven is a desire that arises out of faith and confidence in God’s love
