Temporal or Eternal

Col 3:1 Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is seated at the right hand of God.

We are in an age of instant gratification.  We get impatient when our computers take longer than we think they should, when fast food doesn’t come fast, when we have to wait in traffic.  Almost everything we do we want it fast.  We have forgotten how to be silent.  We have forgotten how to take time to mediate.  We are good at instant prayers but seldom take the time to really pray through in issue.  We tend to forget we were created to have fellowship with God.  That means spend time with Him.  Yes, we have to have careers to earn our food, clothes and roof over our heads, but must of us have way more than we need.  Not only are we living in an “instant” age, we are also living in an “I want it” age.  We need to learn to turn our eyes and attention to God.  We need to realize we are looking and preparing for the eternal.  The temporal may be demanding our attention but the eternal (God) is our best reward.  Let us determine and choose to set our minds on the things above, the things of God, rather than our selfish, earthly desires.
