The Curtain

Mt 27:51 At that moment the curtain of the temple  was torn in two from top to bottom. The earth shook and the rocks split

The curtain of the temple separated the people from the presence of God.  The room behind it was called the Holy of Holies and only one priest could enter it for a short period of time once a year.  When Jesus died on the cross that curtain was torn from the top to the bottom opening up the Holly of Holies to enable all people to come into the presence of God.  Even though that curtain was torn it still exists today.  It exists in the hearts of the believers.  Some have allowed God to tear the curtain in their hearts, which separates them from the very real presence of God.  Others have yet to do it.  It is a painful process.  The curtain is made up of very real self-things: pride, insecurities, love of money, materialism, bitterness and on and on.  We cannot tear the curtain ourselves.  The hand of God tore the Tabernacle curtain and so must our curtain be torn.  We must will to allow ourselves to be open to the tearing process.  We must ask God to tear the curtain.  When the process starts, we must remember the pain is only temporary.  The pain is to remove the remnants of sin nature within us and make room for God’s presence in each of the areas of our life and heart where we have kept Him out.  This is an ongoing process.  With each area that comes into God’s presence we will desire more and more.  Ask Him today to start and/or continue that process within your heart and life.  The more I know of God, the more I feel His presence, the more I want to know and feel.  Am I totally there?  No.  But each day, as I allow God to work within me, I come a little closer.  I want to do my part in God’s answering Jesus prayer for me to be one in Him and He in me.  My part is the willingness to have the curtains in my mind, heart and life torn, the old sinful nature removed and His Holy Spirit flowing in and throughout.
