I AM

Ex 3:14 God said to Moses, “I AM WHO I AM. This is what you are to say to the Israelites: ‘I AM has sent me to you.’ ”

Moses has just asked God what His name is and God responded, “I AM.”  If you have studied English grammar you are aware of the tenses of verbs.  Am in the present tense.  God did not say He was nor did He say He will be.  He said He is (I AM).  God has no time; He is always now – in the present.  That is where we should be.  So many of us live in the  past: we hold grudges, unforgiveness, bitterness, regrets for what we did or didn’t do or what others did or didn’t do.  Others of us live for the future: when this happens then or what if this happens then what.  We seem to have a hard time living in NOW.  Paul wrote, “What is past is past.”  We cannot do anything about what has past.  We cannot determine the future.  All we have is right now – this very minute.  What we think and do right now is what we have and are.  The question is, do we have God right now?  We can’t say we were with Him last Sunday or will be with Him next Sunday.  We need to be with Him right now.  When we realize He is with us in the present we may change our choices of what we think, say and do.  Let us live with God in the now – staying in His very Presence.  He created us for Himself, for fellowship with Him.  Let’s start being aware of His Presence.
