God Is Good All the Time

The LORD will fulfill [his purpose] for me; your love, O Lord, endures forever– do not abandon the works of your hands..
Psalm 138:8

I am a work of God’s hands.  So are you.  Sometimes it seems we just don’t follow God right.  It seems like we’re just marking time.  We don’t see any effect coming from the work we do.  We become discouraged.  Some of us just quit trying.  Before long we are no longer active in our churches or our neighborhoods.  Discouragement leads to depression.  When we find ourselves becoming discouraged through our endeavors we need to remember Psalm 138:8.  God’s love endures regardless of our efforts or the results or lack of results.  He promises to fulfill His purpose for each one of us.  Sometimes we don’t see results because we’re looking for the wrong signs.  Results aren’t up to us.  Results are up to God and His Holy Spirit.  We are to fellowship with God and each other, love God and each other, serve God and each other and always to rejoice and give thanks.  Our eyes are to be on God and His love, not on results from our labors.  Are we rejoiceing or being a “gloomy Gus?”  Are we plugged into the joy of our God or plugged into self-pity?  Are we standing on the faith of God’s faithfulness or are we in doubt?  Let us keep our eyes on Him, and through His Holy Spirit we will fill His purpose for us and will flow in His love.  In our church we take turns saying “God is good.” The response is “All the time.”  Then we reverse and say, “All the time.”   The response is, “God is good.”  Believe it and show it.
