Pr 22:6 Train a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not turn from it.

As I write this, our first-born grandson is out in 106-degree heat washing our cars to earn some extra cash for college.  After we will get in his “first” car, fill it up with gas and buy him a dinner.  We are also watching our daughter, his mother, getting nervous about his departure.  It is hard on parents as the nest starts to empty.  We know the temptations in the world.  We can easily be nervous or scared for our fledglings.  I am so grateful God gave us the privilege of prayer.  He loves our children even more than we can possible love them.  He is with them when we can’t be there.  He also promised us, if our children depart from the path we trained them, they will return.  With each of our children a time comes we must let go and let God.  The question is how much do we trust God, His love and His power to follow through on what He has promised.  As this school year starts, be sure to pray for your children or grandchildren and for all who come in contact with them.  Part of our preparing the way for the re-coming of Jesus is praying for the younger generations that they will walk in obedience and praise and thankfulness to God and His Son, Jesus.  If you don’t have your own children or grandchildren to pray for, adopt a child you know and pray them into adulthood.
