Heb 4:13 Nothing in all creation is hidden from God’s sight.  Everything is uncovered and laid bare before the eyes of him to whom we must give account.

We seem to love using the word, “but.”  We like to find reasons for our disobedience or sinful behavior.  Mankind has looked for excuses ever since Adam and Eve in the Garden.  We don’t like to call sin, sin.  We rather say we messed up because so and so or circumstances.  In 1 John 1:9, God tells us we need to confess our sins.  This is not for God’s benefit but for our own.  When we confess sin as sin we are taking responsibility for our actions or thoughts and we are actually looking at what we have done, said or not done or not said.  When we do confess them we are forgiven and cleansed.  If you’re like me, sometimes you find yourself on a treadmill of repetition.  That also puts us on a treadmill of guilt.  When we do confess we must be sure we acknowledge God’s forgiveness and forgive ourselves.  Then we need to incorporate the power of God’s Holy Spirit, asking to be strengthened and not repeat the same sin.  Sometimes we will but we must not wallow in guilt.  Guilt means we don’t really believe in God’s forgiveness.  When we see sin as God sees it our willingness for true repentance will become stronger and our desire to be upright will also be stronger.  Sin is sin.  It separates us from fellowship with God.  Let us be quick to confess and quick to repent and move on in fellowship and obedience with God.
