What We Eat

Jn 6:35 Then Jesus declared, “I am  the bread of life. He who comes to me will never go hungry, and he who believes in me will never be thirsty

Mt 26:26 While they were eating, Jesus took bread, gave thanks and broke it, and gave it to his disciples, saying, “Take and eat; this is my body

There is a saying, “We are what we eat.”  That may apply to our physical bodies to a great extinct.  It also applies to who we are inside – the inner man.  Jesus is the bread of life and we are to eat and digest His word.  We do this by Bible study, individual and in groups.  We also do this through communion – the elements of the Last Supper.  This can seem just like another ritual when we don’t prepare for it.  Before we partake of it we are told to make sure our hearts are right.  We must make sure we haven’t done wrong to anyone and make sure we have forgiven anyone who has done wrong to us.  If it is not a spiritual experience, if it doesn’t make us more aware of God’s love and how much our salvation cost Him, we are taking it amiss.  Let us always prepare in prayer with God before eating His written word or partaking of the elements of the Last Supper.
