Ru 1:2 The man’s name was Elimelech, his wife’s name Naomi, and the names of his two sons were Mahlon and Kilion.  They were Ephrathites from Bethlehem, Judah. And they went to Moab and lived there

Decisions determine destiny.  Our life tomorrow will be the direct result of the decisions we make today.  I encourage you to read the entire book of Ruth.  It’s not very long.  Namoi and Elimelech were Hebrews.  Hebrews were given the promised land and dwelled in Bethlehem.  They were not to leave the land God gave them.  When things got tough, instead of trusting God’s promise, they left for a foreign land – a land were God was not worshiped or honored.  This decision was based on their own rational thinking rather than God’s word.  Things became a lot harder for them in the foreign land.  Read and learn what they experienced.  Don’t judge them too harshly.  We do the same they do.  We look at a problem and think we are wise enough to make a decision on our own.  We fail to ask God what He wants us to do.  Then, when things get harder, we ask God to bail us out.  There are a few things we must remember to do:

  1. When we make decisions based on human rationale instead on God’s Wore we miss out on God’s blessings.  Grass looks greener
  2. We are stuck with the consequences  – Elimelech died.
  3. Others stuck with consequences – sons married Moabites.  Sons died,

Decisions determine destiny.  Learn God’s Word.  Learn to pray and to listen and recognize the voice of the Holy Spirit.
