John 13:5 After that, he poured water into a basin and began to wash his disciples’ feet, drying them with the towel that was wrapped around him.

This comes from one of my nephews”

“I was grumbling about cleaning the bottom shelf on my hands and knees at a SweetBay Grocery Store when an old man patted me on the back and said “Thank you”. I turned to him and said “for what?’ He said, ” For what you do, giving us a clean place to shop”. No small dead goes unnoticed. Sometimes the things we see as a pain others see as a blessing.”

We have an attitude if it’s not our mess we don’t need to clean it up.  Jesus set the example.  Washing feet was the job of a lowly servant.  Feet were dirty and smelly.  We need no longer to wash feet before a meal as we wear shoes.  We still are responsible to follow the example set by Jesus.  We don’t need a job description to stoop to pick up trash left by someone else or anything else we see is needed.  We are to fill the need God puts in front of us with joy and thanksgiving regardless of what we consider to be our “calling.”  We do it not for our own credit but for God’s glory.
