Advent 17

Isaiah 60:1 “Arise, shine, for your light has come, and the glory of the LORD rises upon you.

Our light has already come.  It has come in the life, words and actions of Jesus Christ, the Son of God.  During Advent we both celebrate His coming and prepare for His coming again.  Because His light has already come and remains on earth through His Holy Spirit God’s glory rises on each of His children – those who have received Jesus into their hearts and minds and choose to follow Him in obedience.  The question for us today is do we allow His glory to shine through us?  We let it shine through our words, actions, attitudes and facial expressions.  I stood in a long line the other day and looked at the faces of those in line.  I saw a lot of tiredness, depression, anger and impatience on the faces.  On one face I saw the glory of the Lord shining.  I decided to start up a conversation with that individual and found this person to be full of praises to God and excited about the season.  Granted I should have probably tried to start a conversation with those who did not show His glory and try to shine some light on them.  Next time I will.  We are to shine in the darkness of this world and be a voice telling them of the coming of Jesus.  Are you shining in the darkness or seeking to stay safe with others lights?
