Can Do All

Phil 4:13 I can do everything through him who gives me strength

It was a day of fasting for me and I was busy at home caring for little ones. During the day I was in and out of the refrigerator for things for the family. There was one piece of homemade lemon meringue pie in the refrigerator. Every time I opened the door my eyes fell on that one piece of pie. The temptation became more acute each time. Toward the end of the afternoon it was as if I could hear that pie calling, “Come eat me. You know you want me.” I finally opened the refrigerator door and said to the pie, “I love God more than I love you. You no longer have a hold over me.” Guess what? That worked. I was no longer tempted by that piece of pie and finished out my day of fasting. As we look toward the New Year we can be confident that where ever God takes us and whatever God asks of us, we will be able to go and do through His power He puts within us. We can do nothing in and of our own strength or wisdom. All strength and wisdom come from God. We indeed can do everything through Him Who gives us strength.
