Job 22:27 You will pray to him, and he will hear you, (The Holy Bible, New International Version)

Yesterday we looked at praying without specifics. There are times that it is the right way to pray. There are other times God wants us to be specific about what we ask. Our family was in a rental house while we were building a house. We were sitting around the breakfast table the day I was to meet the well driller for our water supply. We held hands and prayed, “Lord, give us an abundance of good water.” That is all we asked. I went and met the well driller. At 53 feet he hit a real gusher. When I came back to the rental house and opened the door I heard what sounded like our aquarium. Then I remembered the aquarium was in storage. As I stepped into the door I was ankle deep in water. The bottom of the hot water heater under a kitchen cabinet rusted out while I was gone. God gave us an abundance of water that day. We were not specific in where we wanted the water. God sometimes teaches us with a sense of humor. Now, when we know specifics we express them to God. We leave the how and the answers to Him for He is the One Who knows what is best for us and for His glory.
