Hebrews 2:1 We must pay more careful attention, therefore, to what we have heard, so that we do not drift away (The Holy Bible, New International Version)

Drifting away from God and His precepts is a very real danger. It can happen so slowly we are not aware of it happening. We can drift back into old habits and associations. How do we keep from drifting? We must stay in God’s Word daily. Failing to expose our mind to His Word brings opportunity for us not to think about God or what He tells us in His written Word. Failure to spend time in prayer (2-way communication) causes us to be unhearing of His still, small voice within our spirits. Failure to gather with His other children regularly causes us to be less sensitive to reaching out in love, which brings about coldness. God’s written Word, prayer and the gathering together with other believers are like a lifeboat. If the lifeboat is not at ready on the ship at all times it is not available for use when needed. It we don’t stay grounded in the provisions God has supplied when a storm comes we won’t know how to connect to our Source of life. Our question is are we staying well connected or are we drifting in any of those areas?
