Luke 9:56 and they went to another village. (The Holy Bible, New International Version).

The door was closed in one village so Jesus went to another village. We are often faced with closed doors. Sometimes we try to force them open. Sometimes we just quit. Sometimes we sit and wait. Jesus didn’t quit nor did He just wait nor force His way into a place where He was not wanted. He went elsewhere. When we are confronted with a closed door we are to pray and ask God to show us what other door He has for us. Sometimes it’s not a door for us to walk through but a door within us to open. You’ve probably seen the picture of Jesus knocking on a closed door. If you look at it closely you’ll see the door has no knob on the outside where Jesus is standing and knocking. The door can only be opened from the inside. Today we have the opportunity not only to look for doors open to us but also within us to find areas in our lives where we have the door closed to God’s Holy Spirit. We need not be afraid to open doors within us as, once opened, that area of our life will be filled with the Light, peace and love of God. Let us do both today: open a door within us and see what door we can walk through to shed God’s Light to others.
