Luke 12:15 Then he said to them, “Watch out! Be on your guard against all kinds of greed; a man’s life does not consist in the abundance of his possessions.” (The Holy Bible, New International Version)

We take great pride in what we consider “our generosity.” Yet, at the same time, we make sure we have ample of everything plus lots of things we don’t really need. It is hard to fight the impulse. We are bombarded with others telling us we need this and that. Others judge us by the car we drive, how we dress and where we live. People have been killed because they didn’t look like they belonged in a certain place. Let’s face it, a human life and worth is judge by the passions they own. Jesus said we should watch out for this. He said we should to be on our guard against all kinds of greed. Greed can be for money, material possessions, power and even time. I find time is harder to let loose than possessions. Possessions are replaceable but time isn’t. Our question is are we watching how we are using our time? Are we on our guard about being so possessive with our time we fail to be at the places and do the things God would have us do? Yes, He’ll still get done what He wants done but in our possessiveness of our time we could very well lose the joy of God doing something through us.
