After Easter What

Luke 24:15-16 As they talked and discussed these things with each other, Jesus himself came up and walked along with them; but they were kept from recognizing him (The Holy Bible, New International Version)

Lent is over. Easter is over. Now what? The disciples have been through a traumatic time. They spent 3 years with Jesus Who was like no one else they had every known. They were sure He would be the One to save their race and culture from the Romans rule and restore their own country. They were on a high as He entered Jerusalem and sank to a low when He was crucified and laid in a tomb. Now His body is missing. They thought they had been deceived. Some disciples gathered together in hiding. Some disciples returned to their former lives. Two were walking back to their past and talking about their experience and disappointment when Jesus joined them. They did not recognize Him? Have you thought about why that might have been? I could be they were so wrapped up in their own disappointments they could not allowing themselves to see anything other than the disappointment. We are like that. We are usually so wrapped up in ourselves and our hectic schedule we fail to see Jesus when He is right with us. Granted He is not in the body He used when He physically walked this earth but He is still walking this earth. He walks through His Holy Spirit dwelling in His believers-His followers. We are too easily distracted in other things. I pray we have each used the time of Lent to clear our daily vision. I asked our question at the beginning. Now what? Are we going to just take up our old schedules? Let us start each and every day with a prayer similar to this:
“Good morning, Lord. This is Your day You have given me. Refresh me with Your Holy Spirit. Open my heart, mind and eyes to Your very presence in and around me. Open my ears to hear You throughout the day and help me bring glory to You through praise, worship and service.”

It’s after Easter. Let’s roll up our sleeves and let Jesus prepare this earth and its people for His Kingdom.
