(NET) Genesis 2:15 The LORD God took the man and placed him in the orchard in Eden to care for it and to maintain it.

I enjoy taking walks as dawn is breaking.  The gentle light gives everything a gentle calmness. The birds are singing their morning songs. The budding flowers are opening to greet the sun.  As I was taking this all in and praising God for the beauty of His creation I started to think how much we, mankind, God’s creation have misused and abused the creation around us that God commanded us to care for and manage.  In spite of our abuse and lack God’s creation is still awesome and beautiful.  The question each of us must ask, are we obeying God’s command in this?   I know I waste a lot of material goods.  I know I fail to recycle all that could be recycled.  I often fail to realize that in my failure in this I am being disobedient to God.  I must learn to think of God before I buy, use or toss.  We are each called to be good caretakers of all that is in this world.
