Deuteronomy 6:9 Write them on the doorframes of your houses and on your gates. (The Holy Bible, New Inter. national Version)

Why did God want everyone to write His commandments on the doorframes of the houses and on the gates? When we leave our house we walk out the door, turn around and lock it. When we turn around we can see the doorframe. When we go out of our yards we pass through our gates. God wants us to be reminded of His commands to us as we go out into the world. His commands are the basis on which we are made and are there for us to be able to have full fellowship with God. We are unable to do this in and of ourselves so God the Father sent God the Son, Jesus, to show us how to do this. We still fail and God knew we would so Jesus, the Son, shed His blood on the cross in exchange for our own blood. We still fail so God the Father and God the Son sent God the Holy Spirit to live in and through us to give us the power to remember, obey and serve Him and have fellowship with Him. Yet we still fail. We fail because we don’t write His words on the doorframes of our houses and on our gates. In the verse before He said to put them on our foreheads as well. We are to have His Word, Jesus, in the forefront of our minds and on all that enters into us. We cannot enter a house without going through the doorframe. Likewise we should not let any thought enter us without first going through the doorframe of the Holy Spirit. Our question today is are we staying connected with the Holy Spirit? Let’s not start our day without asking God to bathe us afresh in His Holy Spirit to guide us throughout the day God entrusts to us.
