1Corinthians 13:4-8 Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. . It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. . Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails (The Holy Bible, New International Version)

Love is not proud. Pride is another feeling that tries to cover the feeling of inadequacy. As with bragging or boasting, we in and of ourselves have nothing to be proud about. Any success we are given is through the grace and mercy of God. Our pride is in Him and what He has done, is doing and will continue to do. When we are congratulated or complimented about something we respond with a thank you and pass it on to God. Keeping it to ourselves and thinking we’ve earned it grows to pride. Pride also takes the vein of thinking ourselves better than others. It’s not a case of being better but being gifted differently from others and being used in different ways by God through His Holy Spirit. Our question is the next time we are praised or compliment or think we have done such a great job will we be willing to thank and praise God for His allowing us to be His vessel in that instance? The choice again is ours. We can choose pride in our own being or pride in the One Who enables us to even take our next breath.
