1Corinthians 13:4-8 Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. . It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. . Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails (The Holy Bible, New International Version)

Love is not rude. Have you noticed people seem to be more polite to strangers than they are to their closest loved-ones? I’m not sure why but maybe it’s because since they love us and they know we love them we don’t have to be polite. If you’re married think back to when you were dating. You were probably polite to each other. Compare it in all honesty with your most consistent actions now. There are two choices: rudeness or politeness. Politeness is doing for others what you would appreciate them doing or you. Rudeness is doing for yourself what you really know would be appreciated if you did it or others. The question is which do we choose and will we choose to be consistent in it to all, including our most loved ones? When politeness is shown to us, let us not forget the two little but very powerful words, “thank you.” These words encourage others in the practice of politeness.
