In The Dark

Job 23:1-3, 17 Then Job replied: Even today my complaint is bitter; his hand is heavy in spite of 50 my groaning. If only I knew where to find him; if only I could go to his dwelling! Yet I am not silenced by the darkness, by the thick darkness that covers my face. (The Holy Bible, New International Version)

Sometimes we feel we’re praying in the dark. We feel we are just talking to a brick wall and our prayers are coming right back to us. We feel God has closed and gone away. Many before us and many around us have experienced praying in the dark where they could not see, feel or hear God. It was dark in the whale for Johah and dark in the lion’s din for Daniel yet they looked to God in spite of the circumstances around them. It is in our dark times we grow. We are in the dark while our characteristics are being formed and developed in our mothers. We put seeds in the ground in the dark to develop their roots. It is in our dark times God uses to water and fertilize our faith and growth in Him. What should we do in the dark? We should embrace it as embracing God, trusting and turning ourselves over to Him to learn and grow in His way. We should continue praying, not woe is me but show me what to learn here and use it to bring glory to You, my God. We cannot understand why dark things happen but God says it “rains on the just and the unjust.” We will have diseases, fires, storms, floods and many other forms of trials and tribulations but our attitude and faith can turn them into the closest times with our God as He nurtures and brings us even closer to Him. Our question is when we are in darkness will we continue to trust Who we temporarily cannot see, hear or feel? We have the choice to quiet the voices of fear and doubt and walk in the peace of the assurance that God said He is always with us and always has our best in His hand and grow in Him. God is always there in the darkness. Will we choose to let Him be with us over the circumstances? I pray your answer is yes.
