Psalms 32:5 Then I acknowledged my sin to you and did not cover up my iniquity. said, “I will confess my transgressions to the LORD”— and you forgave the guilt of my sin. (The Holy Bible, New International Version)

The word “sin” is in the Bible at least 420 times. We don’t like to use the word “sin.” We would rather say: made a mistake, messed up, goofed, erred, etc. Sin is anything that separates us from God’s will for us. We say there are big sins and little sins but sin is sin. We might disguise it or cover it up from others or from ourselves but we can never cover up or disguised sin from God. We live such a fast paced life we fail many times to notice when we are separated from God. We fail to notice when we no longer feel the amazing peace of God. There is no room in us for God’s peace when we have unconfessed sin in us. I like to do what I call “spiritual breathing” every day. I exhale my sins by asking the Holy Spirit to reveal them to me and confessing them as sin to God then I inhale God’s forgiveness and His peace. We have no room for air in our lungs if we are holding in old air. We must exhale the old to inhale the new. Our question is are we willing to admit to ourselves any and all things that are not in God’s perfect will for us? God already knows. Nothing can separate us from His love but sin does separate us from His peace.
