John 1:29 On the next day John a saw Jesus coming toward him and said, “Look, the Lamb of God b who takes away the sin of the world!

Jesus is presented as the “Lamb of God.”  One reason is lambs were used as sacrifices for sin offerings to God.  Another is what the lamb represents.  A lamb is a meek, humble animal.  It is very submissive. It goes where it’s master tells it to go.  It listens for it’s master’s voice, recognizeing it from all other voices.  Jesus not only gave Himself over the the cross as a sis offering for all mankind, He knew and listened for His Fathere’s voice.  He did all His Father asked Him to do and sought no credit or glory on His own.  All glory and thanksgiving and praise went to the Father.  If we are to be like Jesus we mustt be like a lamb.  Our question is are we willing to be humble as a lamb?  Are we willing to learn to recognized the voice of our “Master” over and above all other voices, listen to Him and obey Him?  Once again we have a choice.  God loves us so much He wants our love and obedience to be voluntary on our part.  He wants us to give ourselves to Him like Jesus did.  Are we willing?  His Holy Spirit will make us able.
