Inside the Package

1 Samuel 16:7 But the Lord said to Samuel, “Dont be impressed by his appearance or his height, for I have rejected him. God does not view things the way men do. People look on the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.”

We sinful humans are so good at judging others quickly.  We take a short look and make our decision  about someone we hardly know.  We also try to package oursleves to be judged by others the way we hope.  Sometimes it is a little disconcerting that God sees inside our pakages.  I am so very grateful that when He looks inside me He finds the love of His Son, Jesus.  It is only through Jesus that I can be found acceptable by God the Father.  When I look at others I try to remember to ask God to let me see them as He sees them.  I find I’m much more sympathetic and want to understand when I try to look through God’s eyes rather than my own, sinful, judgmental eyes.  Since God knows our hearts even better than we know our own hearts I find I must ask His Holy Spirit to reveal to me what is in my own heart.  At first this is a scarry prayer.  Once we really realize what sinful people we are it becomes easier to agree with God, accept His love and forgiveness and allow His Holy Spirit to remove the chaff in us and grow the fruits of His Holy Spirit in us.
