Made Sin

2 Corinthians 5:21  God made the one who did not know sin to be sin for us, so that in him we would become the righteousness of God.

This verse is talking about Jesus Christ.  He did not know sin.  He walked this earth without any sin.  We are very familiar with sin.  I doubt that a day doesn’t go by without us sinning in thought, word or action.  Not so with Jesus.  But notice it says God made Jesus to BE sin for us.  It was on the cross that Jesus took on each and every sin for all mankind for all eternity.  Without Jesus doing that for us there is no way we could ever be in the presence of God.  Sin cannot be in the presence of God.  Since we are sinners we need Jesus to take on our sin and through Him we become righteous with the righteousness of God – a sinless righteousness.  That righteousness was Jesus until He took on our sins to enable us to be free in His righteousness.  The question is do we admit that we are sinners and we cannot do anything about it on our own?  The only way to be free from the burden and debt and separation from God because of our continual sinning is through His Son, Jesus.  Do we thank God each and every day for such a gift of love?  Think how we hold others in this world accountable for the wrongs they do.  How much more should God hold us accountable?  Yet, because of His love for us He sent His Son to pay the price – to account for our sins.  Have you opened the gift package of God’s righteousness through His Son?  Have you acknowledge Jesus paid for your sins?  If not, do so now.  Just admit to God and to yourself that you are a sinner (as we all are) and can do nothing to atone for it.  Ask Jesus to come into your heart, mind and life and fill you with His Holy Spirit.  The allow the Holy Spirit to grow in you though Bible study, meditation, prayer and gathering with others to worship, praise and learn more of Him.
