Nahum 1:7  The Lord is good indeed, he is a fortress in time of distress, and he protects those who seek refuge in him.

When we are feeling overwhelmed there is a place and a person where we can go.  We may be overwhelmed by many things.  They may be of our own doing or they may be from our concern of another.  When we find ourselves in these situations we need to seek the Lord.  He is our fortress – a place with protection and safety.  But He says we must seek our refuge in Him for His protection.  We tend to seek help from so many worldly sources before we come to our One, true Source.  Some seek drugs or alcohol to divert their minds and emotions from overwhelming stress.  Some seek working as a distraction.  Whatever the source of our stress there is but one place to go for real reflief.  When we are bathed in the love and peace of God stress flees regardless of the trials being faced.  Our question is do we really want to be free from the stress of worries?  Do we really want to quit feeling sorry for ourselves?  As amazing as it seems there are people who want to worry, want to feel stress and/or want to make reasons to complain or make others feel sorry for them.  God says in everything we should be thankful.  We cannot do this unless we truly seek the Lord.  When we feel anything but thankful it is time to put aside our self-centered emotions and seek our Lord through His Holy Spirit and thank Him for His salvation, love, peace, joy and all the other fruits He has given us.  What we face here on earth is only for an instant compared to the eternal love we will bask in.  We can start basking in that love today.
