2 Timothy 3:16 Every scripture is inspired by God and useful for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness

Sometimes when I’m walking in the early morning I can start to see a slight reflection of the coming sun.  It is mixed with the reflection of many man-made lights.  This makes it hard to determine which is making the reflections.  It is the same when we hear someone read som of God’s written word to us or read an excerpt written by someone (including me).  Man is able to take the words of someone else out of context and shape them into proving what he wants to prove.  This is why whenever we hear someone cite scripture or reprint it in another text (like this one) it is our responsibility to go to the Bible and read what comes before and after it to know the context and the meaning the Holy Spirit wants us to hear.  Taking it as it is given by another fallible human is how many cults get their seed to start.  Our question is are we willing to take the time and learn for ourselves or would we rather consider ourselves to be  babies who trust any bottle put into them?  We alone are responsible for what we do with what we hear or read.  Let’s make sure we feed on God’s Word.  I pray al my readers check out what I write and ask God in what way it applies to you in your time and space.  That is why these devotions are short.  They are not designed to give a teaching but to give a jump-start to your thinking and a place to start your meditations and Bible studies.  May God bless you as you seek, along with me, to grow in His knowledge and love and grace.
