John 15:9 Just as the Father has loved me, I have also loved you; remain in my love.

When we first meet someone we decided if we like them or not.  As we get to know them we like them better.  As our like for them grows we become infatuated with them.  Eventually our infatuation can turn into love.  Love deepens as we are together with them more and know them more.  Our question is where are we with God?  Do we just know of Him?  Have we moved to liking Him?  Maybe we’re in the infatuation stage.  We like to see His handiwork and go to a church that entertains us but we really don’t want the deep commitment love requires.  We can’t really love someone unless we know them, are with them and share with them.  How do we do this with God?  We know Him through accepting His Son, Jesus, Who walked this earth to show us God’s love and took our place for the payment of our sins and separation with God so our fellowship could be restored.  We have a book called the Bible to give us the history of some of God’s work and His instruction on how to live in obedience to Him.  We have prayer – the conversation with God where we speak what is on our heart and listen to what is on His heart.  Like is fun, infatuation is interesting but love is a 2-way commitment for life.  If you haven’t reached that commitment stage I invite you to just confess to God you are a sinner, separated from Him and ask His Son, Jesus to come into your heart, mind and life.  Then thank Him for the forgiveness, forgive yourself, and ask Him to fill you with His Holy Spirit.   It is His Holy Spirit Who enables your love for God to grow and flow out of you.  There is no better life than one filled with the love of God.  My prayer is you will have and walk in this.
