Pout or Trust

1 Peter 1:3 His divine power has given us everything we need for a godly life through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness.

God tells us how to live a godly life in His written Word, the Holy Bible.  He also equips us to be able to follow His instructions for a godly life through the in-filling of His Holy Spirit.  Our question is do we want to allow His Holy Spirit to enable us to obey His instructions or do we want to fulfill our own selfish desires?  As we grow in the knowledge and love of God through the power and fruits of His Holy Spirit we will find our desires will become more and more in line with God’s desire of our love, fellowship and obedience.  God promises to give us everything we need yet we so often act like young children throwing a tantrum because we think we need something that we really don’t need or aren’t ready to have.  Just as most parents don’t give their children all the children think they need due to it not being right for them or aren’t mature enough for it, God also denies what is not right for us and delays what we are not mature enough to have.  It comes down to trust.  We can choose to trust God and follow His instructions or we can choose to throw our tantrums, say God doesn’t answer our prayers and prove we are not mature enough or that it would not be for our good.  As with most things, the choice is ours.  Trust and obey or pout and demand.
