Thank You

Philippians 4:6  Do not be anxious about anything. Instead, in every situation, through prayer and petition with thanksgiving, tell your requests to God.

There is a very important word in this verse, “thanksgiving.”  Most of us are good asking for things,   We know how to petition.  So often we forget the thanksgiving part of our prayers.  We might remember to thank God for our salvation.  We might remember to thank God for forgiveness when we’re willing to admit our sins.  But when we ask for things we tend not to thank Him until we see our requests answered in our time and space.  Not thanking God at the time we ask is showing a lack of faith and trust that He will answer.  This leads to being anxious.  It’s amazing what saying “thank you” will do for our minds and our hearts.  Saying these two simple words releases us.  Our question is do we want to trust and believe God is faithful and will provide and answer all our needs?  There is a saying, “If you haven’t tried it, don’t knock it.”  I encourage you to try adding the words, “Thank You” to every request you ask of God in your prayer time.  We need not wait for proof.  God gave us proof when He sent His Son, Jesus, to us.
