Authority

Romans 13:1 Let every person be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except by Gods appointment, and the authorities that exist have been instituted by God.

Some United States citizens are disappointed by the elections results.  Some are not.  Some Christian denominational members are disappointed or upset by the rulings of their denominational leaders.  Some are not.  We cannot pick and choose what verses we will follow in God’s written word and what ones we will say are wrong or not important.  We are to accept His entire words.  This verse tells us to be subject, to be under the governing authorities.  Though we, in the United States or in our Christian denominations nominate and vote for them it is by God’s appointment they serve.  We might not like them.  We might not agree with all they say or do.  There is nothing about that in this verse.  We are to be subject to them.  We are to pray for them.  We are to pray for God’s way and will for them and for us.  There is a higher law we are to obey over man’s law but we must be sure man’s law is in direct conflict with God’s higher law.  Our question is are we doing our part by praying for instead of complaining about those in governing authorities?  We have no right to complain against God’s written word.  We have no right to complain about anything we are not lifting up before God’s throne of grace.  Are we praying, really praying every day?
